After a long drive, stretching your legs is the first thing to do. The scent of pine and the first glimpse of the old town walls from the park's edge will ground you.
A simple seafood tavern in the cove. Order some local malvazija and the catch of the day. Sit right by the water as the streetlamps flicker on.
The stone alleyways feel incredibly quiet late at night. Enjoy a glass of wine under a stone vault and listen to how voices fade into the silence of the old town.
The vast sandy spit is at its best early in the morning. The water is shallow and warm, and the beach is perfectly peaceful before day-trippers arrive.
No need to rush. Lunch on a terrace shaded by grapevines — handmade macaroni and fresh salad. Stay seated for at least an hour after your coffee.
Park at the entrance of the Dundovo forest reserve and walk. The air is cooler here, filled with the scent of pine and holm oak, with barely a soul around.
Sit on the flat rocky plates as the sun sets behind the Frkanj peninsula. Put away your phone and camera, and just watch the sky change colors.
Sit down for coffee in the small square opposite the Rector's Palace. The town wakes up slowly, and the morning sun gently warms the old stone.
Climb the 167 steps to the top of Rab's highest bell tower. The view of red roofs, turquoise coves, and the Velebit range in the background is worth every step.
Stop by a local bakery for an authentic Rab cake made of almonds and maraschino. Get a slice for the road and a whole cake for home — it usually disappears fast.
Whether you leave from Mišnjak or take the Lopar–Valbiska ferry to Krk, take one last look at the island from the deck. If you can, cancel the ferry and stay another day.
